Meet Mieke
Hi! I’m Mieke Olivier (née Coetzee), founder and owner of the Active Kids brand.
In 2016, I launched Active Kids Sport Academy, offering fun and engaging sports lessons at preschools in the Alberton area. My sports coaching journey started when I was 15 years old. I started coaching hockey at a local primary school in Brackenhurst, and soon after, I qualified as a hockey umpire. I have completed my Sport Psychology and Sport Science courses at UNISA. I love being active and playing sports. I still play Padel and Golf and enjoy running and hiking.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a few clients approached me to help tutor their children, and that’s how Active Kids Tutor & Au Pair Agency was born.
My journey in childcare actually began back in 2014, when I started au pairing for a wonderful family with two young girls. I au paired for them for 11 years, I’ve been a consistent part of their lives, both girls matriculated and I am so proud and blessed to have played such a big part in their lives. It’s been a deeply rewarding experience that has shaped my understanding of what families truly need: reliability, trust, experience, and care.
Alongside au pairing, I’ve tutored primary, high school, and special needs learners, which has given me firsthand insight into both academic and emotional support. That’s exactly what Active Kids delivers today.
Our team has grown to include passionate and qualified tutors and a wide network of carefully screened au pairs, personally matched to each family.
